The News module allows for the display of current news, links to frequently used sites, news feed, weather and tasks allocated to the user. |

Administration
The News page is edited by clicking the (News Page – Administration Functions
) in the Login Controls Toolbar at the top of the page. The following screenshot shows the Administration screen:[click to enlarge]
News
Existing News items are viewed by clicking the menu to the left of the screen. Users can leave a comment against a News item by clicking the ‘comments’ link below the News item.
Administration of News Items (Admin permissions required)
Click on the News TAB within the Administration page.Within the News Tab on the Administration screen, the following can be carried out:
- To CREATE a new News item, enter a title and text in the editor window to the bottom. Click ‘Save’ when you have finished. You can apply formatting using the toolbar options within the editor.
- To EDIT an existing News item, click the (

- ) icon corresponding to the News item, and edit the title and content. Click ‘Save’ when you have finished.
- To DELETE an existing News item, click the (

- ) icon next to the News item.
To INSERT AN IMAGE into a News item, you must first place the image anywhere within the Intranet Resources Document Vault folder in the Filing Cabinet. . Resize the image to the size you require prior to uploading to the filing cabinet (best size no more than 700 pixels in width).
You can then select this image and display it in your News item using the ( You can resize an image by selecting and dragging the corners.
) icon.To INSERT A DOCUMENT into a News item, you must first place the document anywhere within the Intranet Resources Document Vault folder in the Filing Cabinet. You can then link to this document the ( ) icon.
You can INSERT A LINK into a News item by clicking the (
) icon and typing the title and address for your link....
Users can access commonly used Links via the list to the bottom right of the News page in the Side Panel or via links that can be added to the Navigation Bar.

All links are administered via the Links Tab within the Administration screen, accessed via the () at the top right of the News page.
Administration: Side Panel
Within the Links Tab on the Administration screen, the following can be carried out:
- To CREATE a new Link, enter a Name and Location (web address) and click ‘Save’ when you have finished.
- To EDIT an existing Link, click the (

- ) icon corresponding to the Link, and edit the Name and Location. Click ‘Save’ when you have finished.
- To DELETE an existing Link, click the (

- ) icon next to the Link.
Links appear in alphabetical order within the Side Panel as shown below. All links open in a new window when clicked.
Administration: Navigation Bar
When the Navigation Bar links feature is installed, additional options for configuration appear within the Links Tab. These are illustrated below.
When the 'Display link in Side Panel' box is ticked, the link will appear in the Side Panel.
When the 'Display link in Navigation bar' box is ticked, the link will appear in the Navigation Bar (coloured bar across the top of the page, where the tabs are displayed) as illustrated below. Links appear to the right hand side of the right-most tab as buttons, and highlight when the mouse hovers over them.
In addition, sorting arrows () are provided in the links list. These can be grabbed and dragged using the mouse to control the order of the links. Links will appear top-to-bottom in the Side Panel, and left-to-right in the Navigation Bar based on the sort order.
Note that is it not necessary to have a link appear in the Side Panel in order to include it in the Navigation Bar, and vice versa.

If you wish to have the same link appear in both the Navigation Bar and the Side Panel but with different link text, enter the link twice and specify one entry as the Navigation Bar and the other entry as the Side Panel. |
RSS Feed
The RSS Feed will automatically update during the day with news items from the selected external RSS feed once configured. Clicking on a link will open the corresponding news item from the supplier website.
